Governor Mitt Romney Knowledge Base

How Did Mitt Romney Become Governor of Massachusetts? Massachusetts is a liberal state, the only state to go for McGovern, and Romney is a Republican. He's also a Mormon. I am not aware that Massachusetts has a large Mormon population.
Why did the most liberal state in the union elect Mitt Romney for governor? He must not be that conservative to begin with.
Who would vote for Mitt Romney on his record? I have one prescription that costs more than the insurance cost in Mass.
Did Governor Mitt Romney sign universal health care into law in Massachusetts? If so, why didn't GOP supporters attack him for doing so like they attack Dems for considering it? Here he is signing it into law: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h__s18YXcMs Residents are penalized if they do NOT buy health insurance. Prior to signing the bill: USA Today "Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney re-ignited that debate last month when he announced a plan to expand health coverage to all the state's residents, with a caveat that those who don't buy coverage could face a penalty." http://www.usatoday.com/money/industries/health/2005-07-04-health-insurance-usat_x.htm
Mitt Romney: Is a multimillionaire governor from Massachusetts really criticizing the "Eastern Elites"? Are these guys for real? Are they going to have anyone but a multimillionaire speak at their convention?
After living under Mitt Romney as Governor of Massachusetts, why do you think.................? the two major newspapers in Massachusetts refused to dendorse him for President, and chose instead to endorse McCane.....do they know something the rest of us don't?
Can anyone tell me how many days Mitt Romney was physically out of Massachusetts while he was governor? I know the information is out there, and I'm trying various searches right now with no or unusable results thus far. So I said, what the heck, I can spare the 10 points. Any takers? And, please indicate your source, as I intend to use this information in a piece I'm writing for submission to another site. Thanks a bunch! :)
Will Gov. Mitt Romney be running on the polygamy ticket this election? I don't know why Fox News and MSNBC continue to give Governor Mitt Romney easy questions. We can't find out whether or not he will be trying to push the legality of polygamy once in the White House. One of my Law students brought up the fact that Mr. Romney is a practicing Mormon and that Mormonism was illegal in the United States due to the polygamy aspect. I mentioned that Mr. Romney's political background does not reflect his Mormon beliefs and that he appears to go with the ideals suggested by more mainstream Republicans. But every news anchor that has interviewed him has been stepping around the polygamy issue. I think that is due to the fact that polygamy is a fundamental belief of the Mormon faith. In the public eye Mr. Romney only shows off one wife but then as Dateline MSNBC showed they only expose the host wife, as not to get caught. There are those that argue that if you allow Gay marriage then to be equal you have to allow polygamy. But Gay marriage isn't legal anyway. "Mainstream Mormons rejected polygamy a long time ago". What are you talking about? The founder of radical Mormonism (Joseph Smith) was born in 1805 and any mainstream Mormonism didn't exist before him? He wasn't born that long ago so your statement doesn't make any sense (a long time ago). This country had been run by Judeo-Christian lawmakers and the Christian faith doesn't allow for polygamy or homosexuality. Joseph Smith was a disgruntled Christian and founded his own religion that would accept his sexual desire for many women. The Christian churches outlawed polygamy and that is why it has been illegal in the United States and Western Europe even hundreds of years before any form of Mormonism (radical or so-called mainstream) began or existed. "Just a bit shy on your history aren't you? The Mormon community did away with multiple wives years ago". Doctdon, Perhaps you need a history lesson they didn't do away with it. The Christians didn't let them do it. With all due respect Doctdon, you really need to read below the titles and beyond the first page.
Who wants to help Mitt? Dear Friend, In just a few days, I will be participating in the Rally for Romney – a nationwide, grassroots fundraising effort to support Mitt Romney’s presidential candidacy. In nearly 50 communities across the country, supporters will be gathering together to call friends and family to ask if they will contribute to Governor Romney’s campaign. As part of this effort, I am also helping recruit others to attend this exciting event with me. Can I count on you to join me today? I am convinced that there is no better time to support Governor Romney. Over the past several months, his campaign has generated significant momentum. Recent polls show him leading in Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada, and Michigan; four early states on the road to the White House. We can help him sustain this momentum by making this effort a success. To RSVP, visit www.MittRomney.com/Rally. When you sign up today, please enter [ 996452# ] into the referral field of the website.
How come McCain supporters do not want Mitt Romney for his VP? Conservative leader Paul Weyrich – who endorsed Mitt Romney’s presidential bid – has signed on to an open letter from more than two dozen movement activists to John McCain warning him not to select the former Massachusetts governor as his VP pick if he expects their support. "If Governor Romney is on your ticket, many social conservative voters will consider their values repudiated by the Republican Party and either stay away from the polls this November or only vote down the ticket,” they write in a message posted online by a political action committee called “Government is Not God.”
I assumed Mitt Romney when Governor was for gheyy maridge. Man was I wrong. Romney for President? and who took over Iowa? Seriously. Senor Magoo, they already did. Its infiltration. Rememberthe surprising Obama surprising victory at the primaries. Ithought he manipulated them into voting him, geesh, wrong again. They (those who tipped the election his way) wanted the manipulator. yeah they make us sick
Mitt Romney question? Sorry I'm not very much into American politics, but I was just wondering how it is possible for a conservative Romney to become governor of a very liberal "blue" state??
Romney vs. Kennedy? I can not understand this: How can the people of the State of Massachusetts elect Mitt Romney for Governor and also Ted Kennedy as a Senator? Talk about two opposite sides of the spectrum! What are they thinking up there?
Who agrees that these words by former Governor & Presidential candidate Mitt Romney are patriotic and wise? "I am an American running for president. I do not define my candidacy by my religion. A person should not be elected because of his faith, nor should he be rejected because of his faith." No "authorities of my church" or any church, will "ever exert influence" on presidential decisions. "Their authority is theirs," within the province of the church, and it ends "where the affairs of the nation begin." "I will put no doctrine of any church above the plain duties of the office and the sovereign authority of the law." He pledged to serve "no one religion, no one group, no one cause, and no one interest." He will not disavow his religion. "My faith is the faith of my fathers. I will be true to them and to my beliefs." "Some believe that such a confession of my faith will sink my candidacy. If they are right, so be it." "I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and the Savior of mankind." At the end, he told a story he had inserted just before Thanksgiving. During the dark days of the First Continental Congress in Philadelphia, someone suggested the delegates pray. But there were objections: They all held different faiths. "Then Sam Adams rose, and said he would hear a prayer from anyone of piety and good character, as long as they were a patriot. And so together they prayed." At this point in Mr. Romney's speech, the roused audience stood and applauded, and the candidate looked moved. http://www.opinionjournal.com/columnists/pnoonan/?id=110010955
Is Mitt Romney just pandering to the conservative christians for their support? http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/06/15/AR2007061501347.html I don't remember Mitt being so socially conservative when he served as governor in liberal Massachusetts. If fact, didn't he support limited stem cell research as a way to spur economic expansion in the state?
Why does Mitt Romney need so much make-up? Analysis of Romney's campaign finance records during his time as Massachusetts governor shows he spent nearly $2,000 on makeup artists over four years. The personal-beautification spending was divided over six sessions to three separate companies. Individual makeup jobs ranged in price from $180 to $690. And he's still using make-up for his (failed) Presidential run. Why would a man need so much make-up? Is he striving to be a pretty boy?
Was Mitt Romney a good governor? I have heard that he took one of the states worst deficits (several billion) and turned it into a surplus? He seems like a stand-up guy to me. This was all on the heels of fixing the financial issues of of 2002 Olympics. What's your opinion?
If Mitt Romney got the nomination for president (either 2008 or 2012), would Massachusets vote for a GOP Pres? Romney was governor of MA, the most liberal state in America. If the GOP ran him for pres, would MA vote for a GOP pres for the 1st time ever?
Is Mitt Romney a conservative? or just a liberal governor from Massachussets? On abortion http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cFMdK0TWtks&NR=1 In 2002, (not very long ago) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P_w9pquznG4&NR=1 I just types in the words "mitt romney liberal" on google and it was amazing what I found. It seems to me this guy is the most liberal person to ever run for president on the republican side. Here is on interesting article I found. http://www.theconservativevoice.com/article/21907.html After reading that article, I certainly am convinced Romney is more liberal than John Mccain. On some issues I think he might be even more liberal than Hillary Clinton. It amazes me that so many conservatives are falling for this.
If Mitt Romney becomes president, how will that change the national dialogue on Mormonism? Harvard University began treating Mormonism differently when Romney was governor and when the dean of the Harvard business school was a Mormon. Is it possible that the nation will start taking seriously the greatest church to be started in America?
Could Mitt Romney run for the 2010 New Hampshire Senate Race? Romney has a house in New Hampshire, Utah, and Massachusetts. He may have been governor of Mass, but could he still run in another state? Has someone in US history, has ever ran for office in different states?
What do you Yahoo Republicans think of Mittens Romney turning on Bush? Presidential candidate Mitt Romney said on Tuesday the Bush administration mismanaged the Iraq war, distancing himself from his party's unpopular president two days before Iowa's first-in-the-nation presidential contest. "I think we did a less than effective job in managing the conflict following the collapse of Saddam Hussein," the former Massachusetts governor said at a news conference. "I think we were under prepared for what occurred, understaffed, under planned, and, in some respects, under managed."
Where do people get the idea that Mitt Romney and John McCain hate eachother? John McCain endorsed Mitt Romney when he ran for governor of Massachusetts, and Mitt Romney endorsed John McCain when he dropped out. Romney is even campaigning for McCain. Romney says he'd take the VP spot, so, will he get it? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QA7JTDjG-Po http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9-WJZ1id7KE http://www.politico.com/blogs/jonathanmartin/0308/Romney_says_hed_take_Veep_calls_McCain_Big_Dog.html
When Mitt Romney was sworn in as Governor of Massachusetts, did he swear on a bible or the Book of Mormon? http://www.csmonitor.com/2007/0809/p01s01-uspo.html http://www.slate.com/id/2178568/
If you are a Christian planning to vote for Romney...? do any of the Mormon beliefs trouble you? By Smith's own account of Mormonism's First Vision, "a pillar of light" descended on him, containing two "Personages," who turned out to be Almighty God and his son Jesus Christ. "I was answered [evidently by Jesus] that I must join none of them, for they were all wrong; and the Personage who addressed me said that all their creeds were an abomination in his sight; that those professors were all corrupt; that: 'they draw near to me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me, they teach for doctrines the commandments of men, having a form of godliness, but they deny the power thereof.'" When former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney faced the cameras yesterday to deliver a major speech "about the role of religion, faith, in America and in a free society," he carries the legacy of Joseph Smith's First Vision with him, whether he likes it or not. Romney is unlikely to tell the Protestants and Catholics in his audience that their creeds are an abomination, or that they are participants in a Great Apostasy that began shortly after Jesus ascended to heaven and continued, in all forms of Christianity, till Smith founded the Mormon church on a new set of scriptures in 1830. But he cannot quite evade those beliefs either, for they are fundamental tenets of his faith. Ahe he cannot avoid the question of the secret underwear all Mormons are required to wear or the fact that Mormons believe Jesus came to Missouri while he was on earth. Smith's pronouncement that God, angels and human beings are all members of the same eternal, coexistent species is entirely incompatible with any normative Christian doctrine. God did not create man, Smith proclaimed, or at least not in the usual biblical meaning of that phrase. In fact, the God of the Abrahamic faiths used to be a man, in the distant past, and far in the future the most diligent and virtuous men may become gods. Either Smith was a prophet of God or he wasn't. If he was, then all other forms of Christianity are corrupt and a tiny handful of us may grow up to be gods in other universes.
Is Mitt Romney running for the nomination of the wrong party? Hillary Clinton has proposed the exact same Universal Health Insurance scheme that Romney instituted while governor of Massachusetts. Is this Massachusetts liberal running for the nomination of the wrong party?
Is Mitt Romney being a Mormon actually a GOOD thing, and a reason to vote FOR him? Let's get the facts straight on Mormonism: There are only 3 churches in America with more members (Roman Catholic, Southern Baptist, and United Methodist). If we question whether a Mormon should be president, we never allow a Lutheran, Presbyterian, Assembly of God, or Episcopalian to be president, since those churches are all smaller, right? Mormons believe in Jesus Christ, the Bible, being faithful to ONE spouse (no, they don't practice polygamy), charity, honesty, obeying the law, not swearing, not using addictive substances (alcohol, tobacco, coffee, etc), and are generally some of the most wholesome members of society. Mormons have served as upstanding governors, senators, and cabinet members for nearly 200 years. I think Romney being a mormon is a reason TO vote for him, not to vote AGAINST him. The fact that he adheres to a religion with such high standards is very commendable! Ask almost anyone what religion (if any) the other presidential candidates belong to and no one knows.
How can Mitt Romney be a "champion of traditional marriage" when he advocates equal rights for gays? Have Romney's views "evolved" or is he a hypocrite? While running for Senator and Governor of liberal MA, he endorsed gay and reproductive rights. Now seeking national office, he's reversed his positions.
Do you agree with Romney on his deal with the Feds regarding illegal aliens? "Governor Mitt Romney has reached an agreement with federal authorities that allows the Massachusetts State Police to arrest immigrants who are in the state illegally, his spokesman said." http://www.boston.com/news/local/articles/2006/12/03/troopers_can_arrest_illegal_immigrants_in_romney_deal/
Will Mitt Romney be able to win the Republican nomination seeing as he once helped poor sick people? Though Mitt Romney is considered to be a frontrunner for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination, the national spotlight has forced him to repeatedly confront a major skeleton in his political closet: that as governor of Massachusetts he once tried to help poor, uninsured sick people. Will he be able to get past the primaries with that negative mark on his GOP score card?
Do you think McCain should choose Mitt Romney as his running mate? Romney has a lot of political knowledge and was a good governor, but would anyone manage to see past the big sign on his forehead that has MORMON in big read letters?
If the race had been Obama vs. Romney, which way would Massachusets vote? Would they vote for the Democrat, Obama? Or would they vote for their homestate Governor, Mitt Romney? speaking of which......How did Romney get elected Governor of Massachusets anyway? Massachusets is the most liberal state. would the same people who elected him governor vote for him for President?
Which of the following VP choices would be best for Obama? McCain? - Hillary/Romney out? please answer seriously. I don't care who you are for, just ask that you give your unbias analysis. FOR OBAMA: Robert Rubin --This election will be about the economy Rubin strengthens that. Also being Jewish, helps solidify Obama's lead in Florida, NJ, and Ohio. Claire McCaskill - More experienced than Hillary. Missouri, looks like a soccer mom. Negative: She's a Senator Brian Schwietzer, Tim Kaine, Mark Warner - All safe blue collar picks that appeal to white-workingclass...Governors that wont distract from Obama Other? FOR MCCAIN: Tim Pawlenty - Similar to McCain, not likely to offend conservatives or moderates too much Sarah Palin - Might offend moderates Bobby Jindal - Might offend moderates, young governor Mitt Romney - Economic conservatives like him Christie Todd Whitman Other? please make a case for whoever you choose/prefer please make a case for whoever you choose/prefer
Who would Romney choose for his VP nominee? Suppose Governor Mitt Romney gets the GOP Presidential nomination. Who do you think he will choose for VP? 1) A man or a woman? 2) From which state? 3) From Bush cabinet, Congress or another governor? (See same questions for McCain and Huckabee) (See same questions for Clinton, Obama and Edwards)
Does anybody but me wonder something about Mitt Romney? Governor Romney may be OK for all I know, but one thing makes me wonder. If he can't figure out that mormonism is a cult branch of traditional Christianity, which is specifically prohibited in the Bible, how is he going to figure out the hundreds of challenges that would face him as president?
Would Romney OWE the Mormon church, if elected President of the U.S.? Would "President" Romney OWE the Mormon Church? "SALT LAKE CITY -- Governor Mitt Romney's political team has quietly consulted with leaders of the Mormon Church to map out plans for a nationwide network of Mormon supporters to help Romney capture the presidency in 2008, according to interviews and written materials reflecting plans for the initiative. Over the past two months, Romney's political operatives and church leaders have discussed building a grass-roots political organization using alumni chapters of Brigham Young University's business school around the country. More recently, representatives of BYU, which is run by the church, and Romney's political action committee have begun soliciting help from prominent Mormons, including a well-known author suggested by the governor, to build the program, which Romney advisers dubbed Mutual Values and Priorities, or MVP." - Boston Globe http://www.boston.com/news/nation/articles/2006/10/19/romney_camp_consulted_with_mormon_leaders/ DM, someone's blog? Well, isn't that cute!
Who wants to tell Pres. Candidate Mitt Romney to go to Hell? Former Mass. governor and now presidential candidate Mitt Romney lied to the rednecks saying that he was a "life-long hunter" when he had only hunted once at age 10, until about a week ago. Now he is trying to be his by using Yahoo Answers to ask how he can "use the tax code" to help families. What a load of crap. Who wants to tell him we can see thru his BS and that he is never going to the White House and should go straight to Hell instead?
How do think of Mitt Romney being as a presidental candidate? I'm a Massachuetts native son,but haven't been there in a while,so could someone from Mass. help clue me in all what he did in his time of Governor of the Bay State!
Is flip-flopper Mitt Romney really going to be the "conservative" alternative to McCain? Doesn't Huckabee fit the description of being a conservative better? Romney used to be a centrist governor of Massachusetts who was pro-abortion, pro-gay rights, and pro-gun control until he decided that he was a "conservative" in order to help out his credibility in the presidential election. With Mike Huckabee still in the race, running on banning abortion and denying equal rights to gays (as well as replacing the income tax with the "Fair" Tax), is Romney really the "conservative" alternative to the center-right frontrunner McCain?
Mitt Romney:Best Republican Nominee? Being a succesful businessman and governor Romney has great knowledge about economics...knowledge which John McCain lacks. Strategically it is a good choice since bringing Romney on the team might swing some fence sitting states over to McCain.Plus McCain's expirience in military affairs (which appeases alot of republicans) and Romney's knowledge of economy it would be a solid match up and would steer people further from the idea that McCain is just a "Bush puppet". Sorry, meant to say best republican VP nominee
If elected will Romney fine and deny tax credits to those without health care insurance ? That's what he did in Massachusetts. The health reform law, signed by former governor Mitt Romney in April 2006, states that the penalty for 2007 would be the loss of an individual's personal income tax exemption. This will cost residents who didn't get coverage $219 when they file their 2007 state income tax return. http://www.boston.com/business/globe/articles/2008/01/01/penalties_to_rise_for_shunning_insurance/ DaisyCake...no mis-quote, read the article...what about retirees who saved their whole lives and are now victimized by this law
With the US economy sailing toward recession, is Mitt Romney the only candidate able to right the ship? I mean, the man has an MBA from Harvard, experience as CEO of a major business firm, proven fiscal restraint as a Governor. What more can you want? He can speak in facts, whereas the other candidates have to resort to generalites and innuendo when it comes to macro-economics
Is this the Federal Health Care you want? A leading healthcare reform expert says she's not surprised that the new universal healthcare program in Massachusetts brokered by former Governor Mitt Romney and Senator Ted Kennedy is running several hundred million dollars over budget. Some Bay State residents are being put on waiting lists of 6-8 weeks to just get a physical because there are not enough primary-care doctors see all the people who now have insurance. Associated Press reports costs are soaring for the new healthcare law in Massachusetts. Barack and Hillary will send us all to the poor house with this stupidity.
McCain 1st; Ron Paul 2nd; Romney 3rd in Louisiana? Senator John McCain has won the Republican party's caucuses in Louisiana while long-shot candidate Ron Paul took second place this morning, the state party said, citing preliminary results. Former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney, a leading candidate for the Republican nomination, came in third, Louisiana Republican party Chairman Roger Villere said in a statement. http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2008/01/24/2145586.htm --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Since when did Louisiana hold caucuses.
Who do you want to see win the Republican nomination for president in 2008? Although I am registered Democrat, I would cast my vote for the former Governor Mitt Romney (R-Mass.). Who would you like to see get the Republican nod for president?
McCain supporters will you switch to Romney now? Senator John McCain moved to pass an Bill that allows Amnesty for 12 million illegal aliens. Many Americans are outraged, and are willing to show their disapproval at the ballot box. Governor Mitt Romney said today he opposes this bill as it IS Amnesty. Would you switch your vote to let Senator McCain know how you feel? Thanks I agree that Fred Thompson is great and I would like him as President, too. I used Romney (another fine candidate) because he was the first to come out and publicly disagree with Amnesty. For that he must be commended. Thompson has now come out and also shown disagreement, and is on the right page on this issue. Henry the whole issue of paying a fine is a sham. Do you know how many rules were supposed to be pressed as conditions of the last Amnesty bill in the 80's? Were they enforced? Of course not. Further, what good is a $5,000 fine that aliens need pay (over an 8 yr period no less) when the average illegal consumes $16,000 in US benefits per YEAR. So you feel it is so nice to pay for them to pay a fictional fine, when they make out like bandits. The cost of this Amnesty deal is projected at 2.5 Trillion dollars; Call that a fine on the American people. Slick I hope you are successful as I know there are true Democrats who see how awful this Amnesty thing is for America, but I am not sure that your guys will listen to you, because they want power, and illegals can give it to them. Drew, lets not be silly. Did you know that it costs the American people an average of $16,000 a year from each illegal in the US for benefits. Most are unable to read, and are unskilled. They will simply become a huge new Welfare state within our country. What will you do when you try to collect Social security or medicare and find out the illegals have consumed all the money that it took you 40+ years to deposit?
Question about Mitt Romney? Why didn't the American people choose Mitt Romney as the Republican Nominee, and as eventual President? It looks like he would have been a real good choice. He has Political experience as a Governor; He has economic experience running Bain capital; And he's flat out a winner; People elected Bush, who many have claimed was a loser in everything he did; Well, what a surprise then, if he was a failure as a President!!!!!!!! Wouldn't the logic hold that someone who was successful in pretty much everything he did, continue to be successful as a President, and bring success to the country by extension, exactly like a Mitt Romney? Educate me Americans, on why you elected someone pundits called a failure, like with Harken Energy and Arbusto Energy in George Bush, but you won't elect a winner, like with Bain Capital and the Olympics, in a Romney?
Is Mitt Romney Beliefs Sincere or Opportunistic? When Mitt Romney ran for election as the governor of Massachusetts, a typically Pro-Democrat state, he was pro-abortion and pro-gay right to marriage. Now that Romney is running for the Republican Party ticket for president, in order to appease the general platform of his party, Romney is anti-abortion and anti-gay right to marriage. Which set of beliefs does Romney actually adhere to; do you believe he changed his stance to merely to win the Republican Party ticket for president? Will Romney's actions if elected president contradict his new platform, as Arnold Schwartzenegger has changed since he has been in office?
Do you think MItt Romney is full of...hot air? I just listened to him on the news. I've heard of people speaking out of both sides of their mouths, but I think he may also be a ventriloquist. I am so sad I supported his campaign for Governor in Massachusetts and that it has given him a national forum. What do you think? He didn't do a good job for Massachusetts. He came into the state as a carpetbagger on he heels of his success with the Olympics. He did nothing to improve the business, eductional or social interests of the people. He got out before he had to run for a second term, because he knew many of his previous supporters would not help the campaign. Then he abandoned his Lt. Governor Kerry Healey who ran in his place. Now, he wants to be President. I was a Republican, now I'm supporting Senator Obama.
Who is Mitt Romney? Is he a younger D. Cheney running for President? He was the Governor of the Massachusetts. Support Liberalism Romney is a former CEO of Bain & Company, a management consulting firm, and the co-founder of Bain Capital, a private equity investment firm. Prior to Bain, he worked for The Boston Consulting Group. In November, 2004, the Dollarama chain of dollar stores, based in Montreal, Canada and operating stores in the provinces of Eastern Canada were purchased by Bain Capital for $1.05 billion CAD. In June 2005, Bain teamed up with Haier Group, China's largest appliance maker, and private equity firm Blackstone Group in an attempt to acquire Maytag for over $1 billion. The bid was dropped a month later. On August 21, 2006 it was announced that Apax Partners and Bain Capital had joined the enlarged private equity consortium headed by KKR that has agreed to acquire an 80.1% stake in the Semiconductor Division of Royal Philips Electronics. The new company is called NXP Semiconductors. = A Crook!!!!! peckofdust7billion Why didn't you mention that he supported gay marraige and abortion Plus, his Chinese connection Jehan; because you are a racist. because he hate the Mormon race (Whites) You are Hitler in the 21th Century +++Sarcasm*******
What can be done about the $2,000 per car "cost disadvantage" to make American cars? (as stated today by Former Governor Mitt Romney on 12/14/08 on Meet the Press)
ok now the mid-term election is over..any thoughts on Mitt Romney? Whether the people really voted for a change or many people did not vote because it was a non-presidental election..what is done is done..now we start to turn to the 2008 Election...Mitt Romney out of Massachutes has a good chance and my reasoning is this..even though he is Repubican Governor..his state is majority Democrat party....he governs with the law and does not push his personal/religous views...for if he had then Massachusets would not been able to pass Pro-gay laws...
Why does everyone believe MItt romney and Huck are tough on Immigration? mitt romney -has new illegal cutting his grass every week huckabee - gave social benefits to them as governor I didnt mention mccain or giuliani because everybody already knows they are soft - the only repub left on this is Ron Paul with a very consistent record against amnesty or any social benefits being they are Illegal-just curious why people think huck and romney are tough on this issue - is it because a month ago they said they were during a debate ? what is it please enlighten me ? that is not correct he voted no to give illegals ss benefits and voted yes on the fence - he wants to end birthright citizenship for illegal aliens also -where do you come up with this stuff I asked about romney and huckabee and you attack paul (incorrectly I might add) .typical response you cant defend your candidate but then you lie about mine . the above rant was at mcsweeney - now for tough guy -huckabees past record in no way supports what he is saying -he is very soft if you look at his past Paper mage you are right but that change (amendment was added during the civil war so that blacks and future generations would be considered citizens - it is no longer necessary being the war is over and the constitution should be restored
Is it just me, or is Mitt Romney hot? For those who may not be paying attention to the 2008 presidential election, he's the former Mass. governor running for the Republican ticket. (And the only Republican under 80 with a full head of hair). He's much prettier than John Edwards. I would rather stare at him all day than Clinton.
How can repubes win in 08 when the third place dem candidate is beating out two of their frontrunners? Former North Carolina Senator John Edwards continues to chalk up impressive margins over GOP presidential candidates in Rasmussen Reports surveys of potential Election 2008 match-ups. In the latest poll Edwards leads Senator John McCain (R) by 13 percentage points, 49% to 36%. Over the past month, Edwards has almost doubled his margin over McCain. In May it was Edwards 48%, McCain 41%. Edwards also crushes former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney (R) 51% to 33%. While still a rout, those numbers are actually a bit better for Romney than those from a month ago. who is the repube frontrunner then, rudy "I like to sleep with my cousin" gooliani it does make me feel better. I have never felt so alive.
Is Mitt Romney correct in that he is the "most Republican" of all the GOP candidates? You bet he is.... He used the governorship of Massachusetts as a political stepping stone, leaving the state in a shambles. He is also a radical flip-flopper on both social and fiscal issues, talking to diffenrt groups in completely different ways. He attacks Hillary Clinton for Universal Health Insurance(before he even started critizing other Republican candidates), yet while he was Governor of Mass. he signed just such a bill into law, requiring all employers to provide health insurance. That and his irritating car-salesman smile that is quick to deflect quetions. He sounds perfectly disinterented in actually serving the people as president, only campaiging to get the job. Who takes this jive from him seriously? pusherho: Kerry and Kennedy beats some of the right wing crap I've seen in red sates!
Do the GOP Candidates argue about who is the whitest, and who is going after the white vote? In a nationally televised debate last night, the ten candidates for the Republican presidential nomination engaged in a battle royal, with each candidate staking his claim to the title of the whitest white male in the G.O.P. race. With the elusive white male voter holding the keys to victory in the G.O.P. nomination, all ten candidates seemed mindful of reaching out to that often-forgotten voting bloc. The question of “who is the whitest” came up in the opening minutes of the debate held on the campus of the University of South Carolina, where hundreds of concerned white male voters gathered to hear the candidates speak. “Not only am I the whitest male in this race, I am the whitest male named Thompson in this race,” said former Wisconsin governor Tommy Thompson in an apparent reference to former Tennessee senator Fred Thompson, who is poised to become the eleventh white male vying for the G.O.P. nod. Former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney went on the offensive when he cited his “impeccable whiteness credentials,” telling the crowd, “I was a governor, a businessman, and before that, a generic white male Clipart character.” But perhaps the most electrifying moment in the debate came from Sen. John McCain of Arizona, who at 70 years of age would be the oldest white male ever elected president. “With all due respect, I have been whiter longer than any of the men on this stage,” he said, to thunderous applause. **this is known as SATIRE people
Why be outraged by Ann Coulter calling John Edwards a very derogatory term for being gay...? Coulter is a featured speaker at the 34th annual Conservative Political Action Conference. Some of the attendees include Governor Mitt Romney, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, Congressman Tom Tancredo (R-CO), Senator Sam Brownback (R-KS) and former Congressman Duncan Hunter (R-CA). Vice President Dick Cheney also attended the event. Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney spoke before Coulter saying, ““I am happy to hear that after you hear from me, you will hear from Ann Coulter. That is a good thing.” After she used the f@ggot word in a veiled but very clear reference to John Edwards, the audience applauded and cheered. Is it right for republicans and their presidential candidates to cheer such hateful and despicable character assassination? It's all here in black and white; http://www.salon.com/news/feature/2007/03/03/cpac/ .

If MITT ROMNEY defeated Ted Kennedy for the Senate, woud his voting record be more conservative than McCain? If you think it would please back it up with any evidence. The evidence that his record would be less conservative would be as follows: -he embraced many moderate positions when he ran for Senate, -said Reagan was bad for America, -as Governor dcided on raising taxes by $700 million -flip-flopped on abortion, when running promised not to let any personal views on abortion affect pubic policy -parsed his words with Clintonian precision, -despite all their protests to the contrary was a weak supporter of the surge policy that saved our nation's mission in Iraq. Despite saying all the right stuff NOW, his actual record is mixed at best! My own thoughts is that LIMBAUGH et al woudn't be backing him and overooking these faults if it weren't for the schmoozing hes done---which strikes me as pretty pathetic! soci---- Your link was good, but ROMNEY waffed AFTER that story... Heres a link to an article that shows the original quote: http://www.weeklystandard.com/Content/Pu... So is Mitt Romney Pro Choice or Pro Life? I'm confused. When he ran for U.S. Senate in 1994 in Massachusetts he said he was pro-choice. He said he was pro choice again in 2002 when he ran for governor. Now he's saying he's pro life.
Does anyone take Mitt Romney seriously? I' m from Massachusetts and he was a lousy governor despite what he says. He'd say anything and take any position on an issue to get votes and it appears he's doing the same thing in his bid for president. He can be pro something one day and anti the same thing the next. He waffles all the time.
question for mitt romney? if you could ask massachusetts governor, and potential GOP presidential candidate, anything you wanted what would it be? added bonus to the winner; your question will actually be asked.
