Election?? Who do you think has the best chance of winning the democratic 2008 election? (Hilary, Obama) Then who do you think is going to win overall??
How do the election candidates get selected to run in the final race? How do I get Obama in the election race rather than Clinton? Is there a pre election that decides who is the final candidate? Clinton is a hypocrite and I can't stand her. Obama is the only one that I can see that actually has some common sense.
How does the British election system work? What's this about the prime minister "calling an election?" Do you not have elections until the guy in office decides for another one? Is it just tradition that decides the term limit?
How would a direct democratic election of the president change the role of that office? The role of the president was never to be the direct ruler of the people. His role was to serve as the head of the unified collection of independent states to the world. The democratically elected executive was supposed to be the governor of a state. The federal government is the representative body of the states, not the people. That's why only one house of congress was to be popularly elected. If we move to complete popular election of all federal offices, then wouldn't it completely invert the state/federal relationship? Roles that were reserved to the states would be devolved to the federal government, and voting in local elections would become redundant. Why have governors, or even states at all, when all the power will be vested in a unitary executive with popular demands to shoulder responsibilites formerly reserved to states, as will naturally tend to happen as people begin to view the presidency as the penultimate governorship. There already is a danger presently in how people perceive the role of that office. Look at how many people believe that the president should have done more for Katrina. Or believe that the president should decide how children are educated, or that the president should help homeless people and poor people. A frighteningly large number of people seem to prefer a president as king rather that the limited role the founders envisioned.
How far was Roosevelt himself responsible for his election victory in 1932? I am not sure whethers its charasmtic persona agenda and his campaign OR whethers it Hoovers (his main oppenant in the elections) unpopularity due to his rather cold response to the wall street crash and the ongoing crisis at the time. And could of anyelse but Hoover of won this election? Or was Roosevelt the right and ONLY man? What was the BIGGEST factor that helped Roosevelt get into power? State your sources. Note: i shifted the question from the persidental election section to history. And thanks for reading my questions.

What happens if I win an election for president of a society, but my Nomination form is not valid? Hi. What if the candidate needs to have 10 members of the society to sign a nomination form in order to run for an executive position, but after the elections are over, I win, but later someone complains that my nomination form is invalid because i forged some signatures? (like 2 out of the 10). I Is it too late because the voting is done, and the issue should have been brought up before election day, or can the court revoke my president position?
After Obama loses the election will he start his own religion ? He actually could pull it off . He already has the blindly devoted followers . They already have their bible , " the polls , the polls the polls , it is written in the polls " . They already have their statement of faith , " chaaange , chaaange , chaaange " . Some think that they will actually start their own religion with Barry as their guru , after he loses the election . Is this possible ?
How are states awarded during the general election? I was looking at CNN's tally of votes/state and I noticed that Obama has more votes than John McCain in just about every election, whether he wins or loses to Clinton. Does the majority rule still apply during the general election? In other words, if more democrats vote for Obama in Texas than Republicans voting for McCain, does that mean Texas would then become a BLUE state? Or is there some type of formula that determines the winner?
How does an Iranian election candidate get so few votes in his home area? One candidate's number of votes was fewer than the number of campaign staff he had. Wouldn't a candidate be assured of the votes of certain people, like his mum and his campaign staff? Surely anyone who wants to rig an election could at least take the bother to make the numbers convincing?

Did black turnout rise during the 2008 election? I'm asking this question in both the elections category and the civic participation category. I remember reading somewhere, I don't remember where, that there was a higher black voter turnout in the 2008 election than in most previous elections. Is this true? Also I hear that about 95% of them voted for Obama. Is that true as well? If yes, could you provide me with a good place to find actual statistics?
How can I become involved with the 2008 presidential election? I'm 17 years old and I will be 18 before the election, so I will be able to vote. I want to become involved with the election some how. I'm not going to lie, I am pretty clueless when it comes to politics, but I want to change that. Politics have started to become appealing to me, but they are confusing. So how can I learn more about them, and how can I become involved with the election? Thanks!

How would I go about creating an election poster of two candidates? Do you have any ideas? I have to make an election poster, stating who would be a better king : Claudius or Hamlet in the play of Hamlet. Do you have any creative ideas of how I would go about doing this, just to jog my brain. I currently have the idea of dividing a poster in two - representing the two opposing sides, with quotes from each candidate, as well as pros and cons. Would this be the appropriate way of making an election poster? Do you have any better ideas?
Was this last election an anachronistic contretemps for the Republicans? (I have found that the use of large words scares away the Republicans.) Translation: Was the last election an untimely embarrassing event for the Republicans?
When was the last time a presidential candidate won the election and the popular vote? When was the last time a presidential candidate won the election and the popular vote? If you can quote a source that would be wonderful, or even better would be where I can look at the numbers for the popular vote and who won the election for past presidential elections.

In the next election, will republicans be able to persuade the public that Obama started the financial crisis? We're talking about a public with an incredibly short memory. We're talking about a public that largely believed Saddam was behind 9/11. Is there any question that the next election will include a republican strategy to frame the economic crisis as the thing Obama started?
What do you think will happen to America if Clinton or Obama wins the presidential election? If Sen. Hillary Clinton wins the presidential election, then she will become the first woman to be the president of USA and if Sen. What happened in the Kenyan Election to cause such violence? I know there was some sort of election fraud, but that's happened in other countries before, and never caused violence like this that I've ever seen -- or at least heard of. Any reasonable answer on this would be appreciated.
What would opposing candidates have asked Taft in the 1912 election? I am doing a debate for my history class regarding the the election of 1912. My side is the Republican party, led by William Howard Taft. The other three candidates are the Socialist Party, led by Eugene Debs, the Bull Moose Party, led by Theodore Roosevelt, and the Democrats, led by the eventual president Woodrow Wilson. As Taft, I have to prepare for questions the other parties may ask him, and I am having trouble placing together information in the form of questions from the other parties. Any help is appreciated.

I really need catchy slogans ASAP for my campaign. Our mascot is the raiders, the school is STA, and I am running for treasurer. Please help me, this election is very competitive.
What role does the average voter play in the presidential election? All along, I thought presidential candidates get elected by popular vote. Now I realize that candidates are nominated by delegates who may choose to vote differently from the popular vote - making the average voter a glorified spectator. So, who are these delegates and how are they elected? Isn't this system contradictory to the whole democratic process? Whoever these delegates are, can't they be bribed and prepped by candidates? It seems to me that the more "connected" candidate will win an election rather than the most popular one.
Is it possible to change the national election date to improve voter turnout? Every two years people complain about the low voter turnout for elections which recently has ranged between 49-56%. Well that's because elections are held on Tuesday! With our economy today, most people aren't willing to, nor can they afford to take off of work to go vote, even though most would like to. Why not change the date to a Saturday...maybe the first Saturday of November? That could easily shoot the percentage up to 80-90%. What would need to be done in Washington to make this happen? Elections were originally set on Tuesday for agricultural reasons. But these days that is hardly an issue with the majority of Americans. Is there anyone who feels the same as myself? Is there something that can be done to make this happen or do most politicians not want to change this for fear of affecting their chances of election/reelection?
What are the chances on an autumn election? Heya, I was just a bit too young to vote at the last election and I definately want to vote in the next election. What are the chances of Brown calling an election this autumn because of his current lead? I'm going to be away at my final year of Uni and I can't really fly back home and miss classes just to vote so I really hope there's not an election til after I graduate next summer and am living back home where I'm registered on the electoral roll!
What limits the amount of candidates running for presidential election? In the last election, candidates like Duncan Hunter and Mike Gravel were very unpopular. I was surprised only 8 people ran for the Democratic ticket. Since a 3 year senator became president, now just about anyone is congress could run. What prevents like 30 people from running in each party?
What would happen if one of the joke write-in candidates won the election? Like, per say, if Mickey Mouse actually won the election? Would Eisner step in as his representative, would they grab a random Mickey mascot from Disney Land/World, or how would the problem be dealt with?

Why did the Iranian leadership crack down on the election? They'd already vetted both candidates anyway, and their system only allows the presidency limited power. Why didn't they let the election go down with more surface legitimacy, with peaceful demonstrations, re-counts, courts, lawyers, etc. There is nothing to lose. Did they panic? This seems like a big miscalculation. Instead of making it look more like an American election, they made it look like a sham.
What is the point during an election to recounting votes? This current election had ballot recounts. My question is why do they do that? Is it because of the new technology and voters are not educated in their use? Or is it because those who are running feel cheated in some way?

Why did the Republican party cheat in the election of 1888? In the election of 1888, between Benjamin Harrison (R-Indiana) and Grover Cleveland (D-New York), why did the Republican party buy votes for Benjamin Harrison? They paid people as much as $20 each just to vote for him (and if you notice, Harrison won his home state by just 2000 votes). How come anybody support a party that cheated in one of our past elections?
How soon after a prime minister calls an election can it take place? Hello, I wonder if anyone can tell me, how soon an election in the UK can take place after it is called. So for example, if Gordaon Brown told us on Monday that there was to be a general election, could it take place on Thursday?!! I imagine that this is totally unrealistic, so wonder how many weeks there are between when it is announced and when it takes place. Many thanks
How much does the Canadian government spend to hold a bi-election? Stephen Harper, the Prime Minister of Canada just dissolved Parliament and called a general election for October 14. How much money was used by Bill Clinton during the 1996 election? I am doing a project on the 1996 election and have to represent William Clinton. The thing is that there are some questions I must answer for a mock newscast interview. One of these questions are, "How much money was used by William Clinton during the 1996 campaign?" When the 2010 election is taken by ACORN ballot stuffing will the demstrations here be greater then in Iran? There is a strong possibility that the 2010 election will be given to the liberals by acorn interference with the election process. By 2012 Obama should have things fixed so he can walk to reelection but will the people rise up like in Iran or just roll over?
Is it legal for an elected official to give gifts to city employees during a re-election bid? A sitting councilman is a current candidate for mayor. Gifts were placed at city employee work stations with a note to remember him and his candidate of choice for an open seat on the council on election day. The gifts were delivered after regular work hours at a city facility. Is this legal and how do community members report the activity to the election committee or should we waste our time reporting the activity . The election is November 6.
How can president Obama reduce the deficit by the next presidential election? If he is sending congress a proposed budget of 3 trillion plus! I mean does he have some of Tinkerbell's magic dust or what. This is the only way I see him getting the deficit to 1/2 a trillion by the next election as he has promised
Should we have a new election when ballots are screwed up beyond accurate counting? I would think that a new election might resolve some of this ballot stuff but this is as bad now as back before electronic ballots. It's all a crooked and dirty political mess.
How do I get informed about the 2008 election? I am 23 and I have never voted. I know its horrible but I have never been interested in being involved even though I know its important. I have been getting more and more interested in voting in the 2008 election and wondered is there a website that will help me. I want to get informed about who is running, what is all being voted on as of now, etc. I also want one that is up-to-date and easy to understand.
Why is my state going to hold a primary election before the nominee has been decided? Why is my state going to hold a primary election before the party nominee has been decided? What impact will Bob Barr and and Ralph Nader have on the Presidential election? If its close, these two guys - depending on their own success - could have a significant impact on the election. What do you think?
How is the National Guard preparing for the election result? If Obama loses there is going to be mass riots across America If Obama wins the heartland Americans in the south are going to be really pissed and we could see an increase in hate crimes against the blacks. Have you seen any increases in military presence in your home state coming up to election day?
Are the Israeli ready to resume real peace negotiation after the new election? Or more of the same. If so what is the use of having an election. Without ending, the Israeli occupation of other people lands there will never be peace in the Middle East.
Which Democratic candidate is most likely to win in the General Election? Barack talks about change all the time but is that believable enough to sway people from the Republican nominee? And Hillary, too, I don't think anything else will motivate the Republicans to come out and vote than the chance of Hillary being president. So, who would be most likely to beat the Republicans? Or can they just not win in this election?
What would happen if a week before election day both presidental candidates die? Do the people vote on the two former candidates, with the party picking the replacement candidate internally? Does the election get pushed back? Have I just discovered how Bush plans to remain in office indefinately?
How will the Democratic party treat Hillary Clinton after the election? It was sad to see the Democratic party and the media stab Hillary in the back. It almost seemed like the party machine discarded someone who was faithful Democratic party for years. Will Hillary get the respect she deserves after the election? It was sad to see her destruction by her own party. Hillary was a symbol for many women. Now that symbol is gone.
Is Hillary desperate to win the nomination even if it means losing the General Election? If she gets to the General Election she is able to use the money soley set aside for the General Election to pay off her debt. If she doesnt win the nomination she has to send it back to the donors. So just by getting through the primary, she can pay off her campaigns debt. If she doesnt get the nomination, those loans will go unpaid- including her own 5 million. Is that why she doesnt seem to care about weakening the party? She's just trying to get her money back?
Where can i find information on how to hold a mock election? I am social studies teacher and want to hold a mock election for my government class but don't know where to start. Any suggestions?
What odds would you give for McCain publicly losing his temper before the election? He's famous for his flare ups, whether verbal or physical. Given the stress and tough questions McCain is going to face between now and election day, what are the chances he will have a major rage incident in that time frame? Feel free to express answers as a percentage. (0%=no chance, 100%=Hulk smash!) Follow up question: Would it affect your vote if he did flip out in front of the world media?
What has been done to guarantee this presidential election will no be a repeat of the year 2000 election? The year 2000 presidential election was a mess. Millions of dollars of legal fees were spent. Millions of people were questioning George Bush's election victor... What has been done to prevent another election disaster?
Is it possible to have an honest and clean election in the Philippines? Election in the Philippines is fast acoming. There is a quip that says there are no losers in our elections, just the cheated candidates. This may be true but there are also witnesses to some fraud and cheatings. The latest cheating style is "dagdag-bawas" (add-subtract). The involved candidate will alter the result of counting in his favor. Do you think we could still achieve an honest and clean election?
Why did the Republicans lose the election so soundly and what would they do differently if they could? I know many will cite the percentage numbers saying it wasn't a landslide, though I would venture if the Republicans had won by the same numbers they would definitely call it a landslide. At anytime during the primaries, the National Convention, or the months prior to election- what would you change? Alright- I respectfully withdraw the landslide remark. The comment about not being aggressive enough is interesting. My impression was most voters thought McCain ran an extremely disjointed, negative campaign. I know some wanted him to go after the Reverend Wright issue, but they did pursue his ties to a former domestic terrorist. As far as the low turnout by Conservatives- WHY? Again, if you were managing the campaign, what would you have changed? To those citing the 'close race' cite percentages rather than electoral votes: I'm no fan of the Electoral College but this is how wins are typically measured. Big Cazzo- previously, you citred the polls. What of the polls stating Palin merely galvanized the Right (whom you say didn't show up to vote) and completely turned off most everyone else? If Palin was such a draw, why wasn't there more Republican support? b123(et al)- Are you saying that people that disgree with you do not love their country? Big Cazzo- Thanks for your thoughtful responses. We respectfully disagree on the Palin pick, I think she carried too much baggage and completely negated McCain's trump card of Obama's lack of experience. Furthermore, she was ill prepared for the big time. You can blame it on the media but if you can't hit cwertain pitches you should stay in the minors. I believe McCain could have won had he ran a more stable, planned, coherent campaign AND if he ran as himself rather than trying to superficially recreate himself as a Conservative. Despite polling numbers saying Joe the Plumber tactics were tanking, he married the strategy. A telling moment was when he introduced Joe to a crowd of supporters but Joe did not show up. Sadly, the media captured McCain desperately calling out to Joe- "Joe, are you here?" The infighting and backstabbing among his staff reminded me of Dole's campaign where staffers began distancing themselves well before the final outcome.
What differentiated the 1828 election from all previous? It was the first to be decided by the House of Representatives? No candidate had a clear majority? It was the lowest of all voter turn outs? It was the first real popular election? None of the above?
What Tax Election Status is Best for My LLC? I have a single member LLC. All income from it will be passive income such as interest, dividends, capital gain or rental income, none of which is subject to self employment (SE) tax. Obviously the LLC will have expenses too. If I use the default tax status, its treated as sole proprietor and income is reported on Schedule C. 1. Is this income then subject to SE Tax because its on Schedule C or is it reported elsewhere? If elsewhere, is that income still offset by the expenses? 2. If it does trigger SE Tax, would a status election of S-Corp solve this problem if it is subject to SE tax and what other issues would that raise?
Is Steven Harper trying to force the opposition to call an early election? Recently, the Liberal Party appears to be in disarray. As a result, if an election were to be held, the current minority Conservative government would be in a good position to pick up a majority. However, the Prime Minister has promised not to call an early election. Newspaper stories are hinting that he may use the Throne Speech (and declaring other proposals as confidence votes) to either force the opposition to back down on key issues or to force them to be responsible for an early election. What do you think the Prime Minister is trying to do and will there be an election this fall/winter?
How many points down does the Republican nominee generally start out in an election? In nearly every election over the last 50 years Republicans start out about 20 points below the Democratic nominee once that person has been established. That number gets less and less as the election approaches and the Republican wins. Why does this happen? The liberal media supports the Democrat and they get tons of free press and they back them. Keep your eyes on the numbers. McCain and the Republican party is at work as I type this. Vote for wisdom and experience. Vote for someone that loves America and always has. Vote McCain.
Why are even republican analysts saying this is going to be rough election for republicans? I am kind of curious, because normally you would expect republicans to be optimistic about their parties changes of winning lots of elections in the fall election. Why are these guys so down on their own party?
What is the statute of limitations for challenging an election in a California general law city? I'm working with some people who want to challenge an assessment election that occurred a couple of months ago. How long do they have to challenge the results?
If a presidential candidate wins a state primary election, what exactly do they get? I don't know a lot about politics, but I want to learn. For example: If Republican Presidential candidate "John Hancock" wins the Virginia State primary in February 2008, what happens to the other republican candidates? Will they still be on the ballot for the general election in November? Can you lose a state primary and still be on the ballot in that same state for the general election? If so, then what exactly is the primary election for? What does the winner get ?
is a school board position election considered a partisan election? The HATCH Act forbids federal employees from running for public office in partisan elections. What makes a public office election a partisan election? The candidates are in the papers with their party affiliations noted.
Is this the weirdest election you have ever been through. 1 being normal, 10 being totally weird? We have our first black nominee (and probable president) named "Barack Obama" of all things. We have McInsane running, the oldest candidate in recorded history. And of course Sarah (wink, wink Palin) Does this seal the deal for you, for being the weirdest presidential election in modern history?
How should I properly thank the liberals for handing us another election? They picked two very weak candidates this year. Clinton-4 year Senator. Obama-1 year Senator?? At least if they had picked Edwards for their nominee, he might have been a slight competition in the general election. But I just don't see Obama or Clinton being able to beat McCain in November. McCain 08!
Who has information on Market values around election times in the US? A profesor said in class that we will always find a down market just before the election but I have been looking and found it is a mixed bag in both parties on market values after the election but what about before. Is there any solid history on this?
What is your nightmare ticket for next election? For me, the worst possible choices in the next election would be : McCain vs Clinton. Your nightmare ticket?
How does the presidential election process work? Is it done per state? I just came to the US and I am very interested to learn about the voting process of its citizens. What is the basic difference between Democrats and Republicans? Why do I hear in the news that ballots are now being cast when I read that the election is not until November? Please enlighten me.
Why is there a racial issue in the election for President? I see many Liberals and Democrats calling Republicans and Conservatives racist, but not many Conservatives, and Republicans calling Liberals racist for their utter dislike of Condoleeza Rice, there fore I am concluding that the issue of racism in this election is moot, and merely a tactic used by the Liberals to win an election, and will lie to do it. Am I wrong? Will you give me your understanding of it?
Why in an election year have our candidates not acted to stop additional federal and state tax on fuel prices? We need relief from the fuel prices and the government is benefiting from the additional tax on these high gas prices. Why is this not being addressed by our candidates in an election year? It would certainly get my vote. I need to get to may job and when I can't get to my job, there is no payroll tax income for the government to fuel their needs.....X millions of other Americans.
What is the purpose of the primary election ? This is my first year of voting what does this have to do with the real election?
Why are so many voters ignoring the issues during the election and focus on propaganda and gossip? During the US election I am finding that the average citizen is focussing extensively on issues that are not important or blantantly untrue (e.g. Obama is a muslim, McCain is not a war hero). It is scary to think that we are about to elect arguably the most powerful person in the world and voters focus on stupid arguments that have no signficance on their ability to lead. It is frustrating to watch the ignorance that is portrayed on forums and blogs.
How important is military service in this presidential election? Republican nominee John McCain has a vaunted military record. Democrat Barack Obama has none. But four months out from the voting, Obama is ahead in national surveys. History shows that whether a candidate has military experience rarely determines who'll win election to the nation's highest office. Tonic: Excellent answer!!!!

How do you get stars asking an election question? I seen this person get 42 stars for asking if he should give roses for a first date and I never received a star for an election question. If I make my questions more difficult about the Canidates will I receive a star?
Who would support having the presidential election a year early? It seems the 2008 campaign is starting earlier than usual, and we are all going to be pretty tired of it by the time of the election more than a year and a half from now. And it seems that everyone is pretty sick of George Bush and would be happy to see him out of office soon. He might be ready to hang it up himself. So let's rush through a Constitutional amendment allowing us to have a presidential election in November of 2007 instead of 2008. I think we can all agree that any of the current crop of candidates, Republican or Democrat, would be an improvement. So wouldn't we all be better off with a nice short campaign, primaries this spring, conventions this summer, and election this fall, and a new President in January '08 instead of '09? Actually, Gimpalom, George Bush received less than 50% of the popular vote in 200, by anyone's reckoning. Al Gore received more votes than George Bush. This is undisputed historical fact. Look it up. George Bush only won a majority of the votes in the electoral college.
election???? How can i find a election is democratic
How can I find a sample ballot for the November general election in North Carolina? I already went to the NC election board website and could not find this information. I am looking for Yadkin county. Thank you.
What candidate would you like to see get the nomination, but lose the General election? Assuming Hillary gets the Democratic nomination, it would then be so sweet to see her lose the General election. That would actually be better than her not getting the nomination in the first place.
election...? Who has announced that they're running for president in 2008 and for what parties? Also if you could include some sites with info. about them I'd appreciate it.
Election!!!!!!? Who are u voting for??? and are u a republican or democrat? also i wish i could vote but i cant cuz im not old enough but i told my parents to vote for who i want since they really dont care but yeah i want mccain to become president!!!!! also for all of yall voting for hillary or obama is it just cuz shes a woman or just cuz hes black?

Election??? Is there REALLY any candidate worth a damn why doesn't anyone care anything about the working class american (tax payers) anymore and have some real issues like building better roads, the economy, better jobs (bringing back some industry) I'm so sick of hearing about health care and world peace (other countries problems) when are we ever going to have a person give a damn about the american people!
Do You Think Election Protection Hotlines are Worth Your Time? During the last national election, Election Protection lines went dead on Election Night. Would you use them this time? "Nationwide Election Protection Hotline Up and Running The nationwide Election Protection Hotline was activated on October 16 to help resolve issues for Election Day on November 7. The number is staffed with live volunteers from 9 AM-6 PM Eastern time. Election Protection guides voters through the voting process, helping to ensure that all eligible voters have the opportunity to cast a meaningful ballot and have their vote counted. You can contact them with issues before, on, or after the election. Issues are recorded in an Election Incident Reporting System (EIRS) to allow responding to issues in real time as well as provide data for investigations after the election. Visit www.866ourvote.org or http://www.nationalcampaignforfairelections.org/pages/election_protection for more information.
Which election would you say was the most important election you have ever voted for? This can included a federal (country) government election, state government, county government, city government, or a schoolboard election. I would say the most important election I voted for was the 2000 Presidential Election because it was the first time I could vote in a major and important election.
Election Question? In Australia it is a must for you to vote. If your going overseas during the election, you must vote earlier. What would happen if you were in a coma? Eg. Monday 2004 was election Thursday 2005 you were in a coma, and you wern't told that there would be an election on Tuesday 2006, PM tells us that there will be an election. Saturday 2007 it is election day yet you are in a coma. What would happen??? Would you have to pay a fine?
Why do people say Clinton has a better chance in the general election? Obama does better against McCain in Michigan, Iowa, Nevada, Colorado, New Mexico, and Ohio http://rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/election_20082/2008_presidential_election/ohio/ohio_2008_presidential_election http://rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/election_20082/2008_presidential_election/colorado/colorado_2008_presidential_election http://rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/election_20082/2008_presidential_election/iowa/iowa_presidential_election http://rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/election_20082/2008_presidential_election/nevada/election_2008_nevada_presidential_election http://rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/election_20082/2008_presidential_election/new_mexico/new_mexico_presidential_election http://rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/election_20082/2008_presidential_election/ohio/ohio_2008_presidential_election Most of these states went to Republicans in the last election NY and Cali go Democrat regardless

election process? I am ashamed to say I don’t know what the election process is all about. How does the process lead to the national election in NOV 2008. What are the states that get to vote? What exactly does the Caucus and Primary Election mean to us? Do these elections determine who the rest of us Americans get to vote for on NOV 2008? The voting that takes place in NH tomorrow are they open to the general public? Sorry if I sound stupid, I never had any information on the process and I would like to learn something? Thanks to all that can help! hi thanks all. yes i understand that these debates and elections that are being held now, determine who we will all vote for in Nov 2008. what i am unsure of is do all the states have primaries or are there only certain states. for example tomorrow NH then they move to South Carolina and then Florida. Do they come to Mass. ?
how is the election process in india like? does the recent gujarat election affect the coming general election why is the state election held separately from the general election? are they totally independent of each other? for eg, BJP won the gujarat election. Apart from morale boost, does it give BJP any other advantage in the general election?
Primary Election question/ I want to vote in the Primary elections? right now I am a registered "Independant" voter, but I want to vote in the Primary election comming up in a couple years. How do I register as either a "Democrat" or "Republican" before the primary election, so I will be eligible to vote in the Ohio Primary elections?
Would you consider the 2008 Presidential Election as the most important election of the decade? Why or why not The 2008 United States Presidential Election is an important election for America because they are electing the 44th President of the United States of America. In November, American from sea to shining sea and from coast to coast will elect a new president to replace George W. Bush. Out of the three presidential elections happening this decade, would you consider the 2008 election the most important election of the decade or would you consider the 2000 or 2004 election the most important election of the decade?
Will the next election be hacked? This week, Robert F. Kennedy has another article out about our election process -- before you reply, please read it. If you have different information that refutes his article, please share it in your response. http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/story/11717105/robert_f_kennedy_jr__will_the_next_election_be_hacked/1 It is one thing to say that "all elections are crooked" and that "both sides have their ways to do this" and another to accept this as reality to our election system. NO side should be able to manipulate elections and that is what we should be concerned about. So, will the next election be hacked? Interesting....did anyone read the article? Not one person mentioned the fact that companies are involved in the vote counting process..... and it seems to me that absentee is a way to send your vote to nether-nether land -- who receives it? who processes it? who makes sure that it goes into the correct place? who makes sure that no one acts improperly with it?
Do you vote in every election that you are entitled to as an act of thanks to veterans? I don't mind spending an hour to go vote in civic-level elections to elect the mayor and school board trustees. I also vote in each provincial and federal election and enjoy the privilege. The only election I have missed is the 1993 federal election, which was both called and held when I was attending school in Phoenix, so I wasn't able to vote in it. Canadian elections are not yet scheduled regularly and elections can be called and campaigns run very quickly compared to US elections.
US Presidential election funding compared to UK general election? A UK general election will see thousands of candidated contesting 646 seats. The parties' campaign spending is not capped nationally, but it is capped in each seat contested. In the USA presidential election, by the time it is over, each candidate's campaign will have cost 10 times a UK general election. Does this mean money matters more than policy? Where does the bottomless pit of money come from? Should UK election spending be uncapped? Could parties here be state funded to end accusations of cronyism?
Mock election? In this election you will see how 1 vote affects the outcome of the election. You must make up people real or not, or maby yourself for a place in government (example: pres, senate, governor). Then you must state what you represent, what issues or none at all, and what you will provide when elected. The best answer will be decided by those who vote for you,and you can vote for yourself .Remember when election time is up vote!!!You can add it to your watchlist or go to your "my answers" and see when it is in voteing. Remember the one who wins receives 10+points and the election. And there can not be the same person over and over again. Also influence the vote by giving canadates thumbs up or down (yahoo answers level 2 ) happy runnig for positions and voting! if u cant answer the question propery DO NOT ANSWER IT!
Should there be a world election day when all elections are held? we have municipal elections, then we have provincial or state elections, then we have federal elections. Would it not be simpler and less costly to hold elections for all of these offices on one particular day every 4 years, putting that day on the official calendar as Election Day, make it a holiday so there will not be any excuses to avoid participating in the election process on that day. Not taking part would be libel for loss of pay on that day. what do you think? To Zack Barre, I don't mean they have to do it on the same day as we do but what is the main problem with elections? Ans. People don't think they are important, but doing all three on one day may change that. Where is your sense of adventure in trying something new ???
Panchayat Election rule? in the recently concluded Zila Parishad Election in Assam an unique case was seen. in Uttar Bajali seat (reserved for ST) of the district Barpeta Shri Premananda Hazarika a retired Teacher and honourable man with good character was elected and Shri Babul Boro was 2nd. Sri Boro complained afterwards that Shri Hazarika does not belong to ST (although everybody knows that Shri Hazarika belongs to Bodo tribe). then, The Chief election commissioner of Assam disqualified Shri Hazarika on that ground and declared Shri Boro as winner. now, if we consider the complaint to be valid (which is actually not since shri Hazarika is a Bodo) - how election commissioner declare the 2nd candidate as winner? was not there supposed to be an re-election? can something be done now? (Shri Boro is of dubious character).
Election Run Off? We are having an election run off in April here in united states. How do this work, do people have to come back out and vote, and are the same people allow to vote again in the same election, Also do the election Judges have to go back to the voting place and help the people out. I know a lot of question, but i need to know.
Should all states have Election Day Registration? So far 6 states Idaho, Maine, Minnesota, New Hampshire, Wisconsin and Wyoming have access to the wide-reaching benefits of EDR. Those benefits are: 1) Higher voter turnout at elections. The nation average is 5 out of 10 people vote. In states with ERD the turnout is much higher 7 out of 10 registered voters vote. 2) More people preregister. Since there is a larger turnout in past elections, more eligible voters are already registered on election day. 3) Registration mistakes by public agencies can be worked out on election day. No one who should be registered but isn't due to mistakes by public agencies are turned away. 4) Far more likely to get young voters to vote. 5) No evidence of increased fraud in any state that has election day registration. What do you think? Should all states have election day registration?
Election help??? I live in North Carolina. This may sould like a stupid question but when is the next election going to be held? I know that there are municipal elections, and that is it for this year....but when is the next election for 2008 going to be? Is there going to be a primary?
Election of 41 Popes 1294-1621? During these years the Catholic Pope was selected by a conclave of important church officials (typically about 40 of them) via an interesting election process from among about 20 candidates. Some details in this paper by Colomer & McLean: http://rangevoting.org/ColomerMpopes.pdf I WANT TO KNOW the election results, e.g. what the vote-scores for the winner and the main-losers were, in some or all of these elections. Can anybody provide such data and/or tell me how to get it? I do not think they were secret ballots. Anyhow some facts about certain of the votes are known and in that article. How'd they know them?
election awareness - where do we stand? Now all of the educated people know the strategies used by election parties. We are aware that ruling parties, just before election, does all kind of pleasing stuffs so that majority vote goes in their favor. And apart from that the opposing party do their role well best. But uneducated people and one living below the poverty even the middle class, choose to vote those who offer them last minute free home-to-home gifts. And these are the once who form the major part in the turnout rates after election. At last, the winning party should fulfill our requirements and setup a strong and dedicated government. Even if we vote the most eligible one it will make hardly any difference. In my opinion, shouldn't there be a proper guidance for the above mentioned people. And choose a new medium of awareness which will help them to choose the right government along with us?
worked as poll worker election day - is this taxable? New Jersey? Good day, I worked as a poll worker on election day. The pay is $200 for: 1 1/2 hours training one other day + appx. 16 hours election day = about 18 hours or so. I'd like to know if this this is considered taxable income? When I get the check it's flat $200, doesn't have a stub saying they deduct taxes or anything. I didn't receive a 1099 from the board of elections either. If it is taxable, can I deduct mileage and gas for having to go to the training sites & polling place too? I always thought being a poll worker was a service you did because of the long hours at work, etc. Thanks to all who answers. UPDATE: Ok, I called my Board of Elections and they said if it is under $600 it is not taxable.
Australians only....Election Surveys and Polls? All the Election Polls and Surveys leading up to the election have Labor in front and apparently they appear to be the winners after the election based on the polls/surveys taken. What if people are saying they would prefer Labor but on election day vote Liberal just to make it appear that Labor is going to win? I know this sounds stupid but it is possible and then again that could go the other way too with people saying they would vote Liberal but vote Labor on the day. Opinions??
Would a recall-styled election work in general elections? In 2003, California held a special election with a recall of the governor. It was split into two questions, the first being should the incumbent governor be recalled, and the second being if the recall occurs, who should fill the office. This is how Arnold Schwarzenegger became the state's governor. I was pondering the idea of applying that to general elections. The idea is if an incumbent is seeking re-election, the first question would be should he or she be retained in office. The second question would then be who should fill the office if the incumbent is not retained. My line of thinking is that the election is thus primarily a referendum on the incumbent. If the office is being vacated, the first question is not used. I'm not advocating this system, but I would like to gauge how it might be view by the voting public. Thanks in advance.
How are election disputes resolved in the U.S? Here in kenya we had the first closest and most disputed democratic election. Our country is a young democracy. alot of killings, protest and lootings have happened since the results were announced. Even the electoral commision has cofesses that it doesnt know who won the elections http://www.theherald.co.uk/news/news/display.var.1938771.0.I_dont_know_who_won_says_chief_of_Kenyan_election_body.php. the courts here take more five years to resolve election cases. if the same thing happenned in the U.S , how could they resove it?
For those around during the 1960 election and now, The presidential election of 2000? The presidential election of 2000 was one of the most disputed in American history. Yet there were other historic elections that challenged the nation. Compare the 2000 election with the election of the following year 1960. Your opinion on the outcome of the elections—should there have been different winners? Why? Your opinion on the Electoral College—should we still have the Electoral College or should we have direct elections?
PER FEDERAL ELECTION OFFICIAL : ILLEGALS Can AND ARE REGISTERING TO VOTE IN 49 OUT OF 50 STATES, Much Worse? I have spent every waking minute trying to get to the bottom of this ever since my first post titled "Illegals can vote in Florida" Today I got to the bottom of it, and it is bad. Forget about HAVA, Florida election officials blamed it all on HAVA but they were only partly correct ..... The Federal Elections Board Paralegal (with over 20 years experience) that I spoke with today put it all in laymen's terms for me, to start this person said HAVA is only one part of this mess, other parts are buried in other bills, and have been put in place over time, piece by piece. anyway ... this is the laymen's explanation given to me of the whole mess and how this "loophole" as a whole works: 1) Per Law - It is required that Citizenship of a new voter be verified through official Identification when filing their states registration form for the first time 2) Per Law - It is illegal to verify Citizenship of a new voter at the time of voting. (at polling place) 3) Per Law - When a new voter is registering for the first time AND if they do not have the official identification required by their state then the state MUST provide the option of "none" on the registration form to use as identification and they must then accept the undocumented applicant as a registered US voter. BUT #3 supercedes #1 as long as you are registering as a new voter for the first time. And It is only applicable under the conditions of being a first timer. You and I could not use the "none" provision as we are already registered legal voters. Once you use the "none" provision you automatically receive a voter registration card and your state issues you an official voter number to identify you and then YOU HAVE SUCCESSFULLY BYPASSED THE "REQUIRED" ID TO VERIFY CITIZENSHIP AT THIS POINT. NOW COMES THE WORST PART : This official went on to tell me that illegals ARE registering, but not with intent to vote (yet) What they are doing with their registered US voter number is putting the voter registration number onto an I-9 form and THAT IS THEN LEGAL ACCEPTED GOVERNMENT PROOF OF CITIZENSHIP ! Once registered if they did want to vote THEY CAN, here is how under this "loophole" : Once you have your voter registration card with voter number in hand you must vote in person. At that time you must bring your identification with you to vote, but since you registered under the "none" provision you are allowed to use a non-government and non-official ID Under federal law each state can decide which non-official ID to accept at the time of voting if you registered under the "none" provision, but because of the #2 statement above it can ONLY be used to verify a match of the name on your voter registration card at time of voting, it CAN NOT be used to verify citizenship. For example : FL accepts a Sam's club card (among other things) but not a utility bill, However IL accepts a utility bill (among other things) but not a Sam's club card. The federal law requires each state to accept ONE of several non-official ID's, but each state can pick which and how many to choose from. MANY STATES DO NOT EVEN REQUIRE YOU LIST OR SUPPLY WHICH NON-OFFICIAL ID YOU WILL USE TO REGISTER, ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS MARK "NONE" IN THOSE STATES The trouble is these non-official non-government ID's can be made by any 6th grader on their home computer. So, you can see it is not just HAVA, they added one thing to this bill, another thing to that bill, and as the paralegal said the only way to find the true complete scope of this whole mess is to read all of your states election and voter registration bills. NOW, WHY ONLY 49 AND NOT 50 STATES Arizona is the one state that doesn't have the loopholes because the public caught wind of it early enough to write and vote on a referendum requiring real and solid proof of citizenship, BUT this official said there are challenges to this AZ law in court. When I asked this official straight out what the chances were of AZ being forced to conform since the referendum clearly shows the will of the AZ people, the short reply was "soon it will be all 50 states". Needles to say, I will not identify this Federal employee since they stuck their neck out when they told me all this, they obviously felt these laws were ludicrous just as I and most other Americans feel they are. BUT IF YOU WANT TO VERIFY THIS IT'S SIMPLE Just go online and print out your own states mail in voter registration form, if there is a box to check for "NONE" in the ID area then you will know this person was correct. BUT if it is not yet on the mail in form it does not mean you are safe, it might only mean they have not revised their form yet and I did not think to ask the cut off date for completing this. IF "NONE" IS ON YOUR STATES VOTER REGISTRATION FORM ALREADY probably the only way you will find out what childish ID's your state picked will be to go online and read all the election and voter registration bills for your state, most states aren't advertising this to the public folks, it looks like they try to bury it. Does your state accept a Sam's club card, a utility bill, a workers badge from any company, a comic book subscription ??? who knows, go look it up for yourself, it's online. I have already verified the "none" provision for my state and several of the surrounding states, all had it that I researched, how about yours ? Is AZ the only sane place left ? http://www.congress.org/congressorg/issues/alert/?alertid=8843651&content_dir=ua_congressorg
Does Ralph Nader entering the Election at this juncture disturb you? In the last election, many Democrats believed that Ralph Nader entering the election stole just enough votes from Al Gore to cost him the election and allowing George Bush to win. This time around, Ralph is entering the race once again as an Independant and his campaign seems similar to previous ones, i.e. he believes both Democrats and Republicans are catering too much to big businesses, therefore his candidacy he pronounces as relevant. But does anyone -- including Ralph himself -- believe he can actually win at this late juncture? Why do people do this, i.e. jump into an election (like Ralph is doing) or stay in an election (like Huckabee is doing) when they know they can't win it and all they are doing is creating a distraction that doesn't serve the American public. It produces a spoiler effect and one which might generate a winner that might not otherwise have won, i.e. like the last election. Do you admire Nader or Huckabee more now...or LESS? Thank you responders as I stand corrected. In costing Al Gore the election, I mispoke when I said the "last election". I meant the Year 2000 election. Please forgive the oversight.
Do you support Election Day Registration? Six states have election day registration and North Dakota, doesn't have registration at all. Benefits: These states have an average of 10 percentage points more voters in election than all other states and ERD is the largest reason stated by the voters for the increase. There is a small amount of evidence that this decreases voter fraud for two reason: 1) registration on election day happens in person with an official 2) most states require some form of identification such as a local utility bill that was sent to their address or an ID. There is no evidence of voter fraud due to Election Day Registration Cons: In some states is has cost as much as 250 dollars more per voter precinct. Although in other states have experience no increased cost. Critics claim that this would lead to increased voter fraud. Again no evidence has ever shown this true, but has stopped adoption by many states source: PDF about voter fraud: http://www.demos-usa.org/pubs/EDR_-_Securing_the_Vote.pdf Correction: 8 states have election day registration. The source I used is a few years old.
Floating election, what does that mean...? My dad just got his mortgage committment for his new home. On the main page there are two options: Price Range Protection and Floating Election, the loan officer checked "Floating Election" but what does a floating election mean
Bi Election issue "public notice" Spent Uranium? There is a bi election in my area riding . Theier is a notice outside the subway saying "public notice" and that this is the site of a proposed nuclear storage area - The liberal condidate says it is a scare tactic by the Green Party and there is no plans to put a nuclear storage facility in the middle of down town Toronto . I likely wasn't going to vote for the governing liberal party anyway (Provincal) but HOW can I check this out ? Election on the 14th not a lot of time. If the Green party did put it up as part of a "fear mongering" politics I sure as hell won't vote for that. Fear mongering in elections can not be rewarded or we would just turn into America and no one wants that. We all like visiting the place but no one wants the type of politics we see down south and that is more or less what the Liberal MPP told me it was - US style scare tactics - Help - who do I ask to actually "know"
Primary Election? I'm very confused about the primary election. If you've registered to vote, can you also vote in the primary election? Also, after the primaries, do you have to register again to vote for the November election?? Thanks in advance!
No election for Student council president? I decided to run for student council president, but then found out that the teacher involved wont be having an election, but will be deciding on two co-presidents herself. She will be using two of last years student council students and picking them for president. Then i find out im the only one in the school running against these two girls from last year.I didnt think this was right so im running now for sure. It has become a matter of fairness now, it just isnt right the way its being run. The problem is, that this teacher as of right now is very angrey with me for ruining her plans for student council and causing trouble by having an election. Is it still worht persuing this fairness thing, if i could win and have to work side by side these people. When im forcing them all into an election they dont want?
Should election primaries be segregated by party? Many states have primary elections and all of them are limited to voting only for members of one party. If you register as Republican you can only vote in Republican primaries. The same holds true for Democrats. I have no idea what the independants do. You may be a registered Republican but the person you favor for President is a Democrat. You can't vote for him/her until the General election. By that time they may not even be in the race any longer. Surely there has to be a better way. Let's hear your solution. I don't know about you but I haven't been pleased with either parties choices for President for several elections. I'm really open for suggestions. Why not have an open primary and then take the top two vote getters and have a run off in the general election. Who knows -- we might just get better Presidents.
in usa president election need lots of reform.following are few suggestions? 1. All primeries to be held in one day. 2.election process to start only 3 months prior to election date 3 no convassing 24 hrs before the day of election money for the election be fixed for maximum limits for expenditures no bribes to voters be given by candidates
2008 election results are in! Find out now!? When the 2008 elections are over and Fred Thomson has beaten Hillary Clinton with 80% of the votes, will the democrats claim that the election was stolen like the 2000 election? (which after a careful count of the florida ballots offered 235 more votes for george bush) Will they claim voter fraud? Any ideas out there?
What are the main Issues/Concerns facing the US in the upcoming election? Please Help, for my government class Please give your age and gender. What are the main issues facing the united states in the 2008 presidential election? (list as many issues or concerns you may have) Which candidate (democratic or republican) do you believe answers those issues the best (at this time)?
Although election rule of not transfer was imposed,vc forced principal to relieve me&did what can I do? Although Govt Gujarat(India) imposed rules of election on 2 Oct 2005, authority of Navsari Agril University Navsari,Gujarat India, had forced principal Aspee Coll Hort Navsari Agril.Univerisity, Navsari to relieve me for Paria&did on 3cto 2005 without taking prior permission to compatent authority of the govt. Vice chancellor has violated the election rules and regulations. Is this transfer order valid? What can be done to those persons who were involved in this matter by malafied intense and tried to misuse the power with violation of election rules, seriousely?
When Labour Lose The Next Election How Long Will They Remain Out Of Power? Could it be evene longer than the Thatcher era? I hope so. It will screw this Labour lot in Scotland.
Election time is coming up, will gas prices go down like they have in the past? Why are they so high? In the past, whenever election time began, prices for gasoline went down. However, they shot right back up after election season. Is the war to blame? Is it really just as simple as supply and demand?
Gold Election Watch - does anyone know anything about the Election watch company? I was lucky enough to inherit a gold watch - it's hallmarked and has a serial number on the back. It has gold bracelet. I have looked all around the internet for information on the manufacturer - Election - and all I can find is a couple of other Election watches for sale. They list them as Swiss made. I was wondering if anyone knows anything about the company: Is it still in business, how old is my watch; can I contact them to find out about the serial number on the back, etc?
During election counting, is it actual true counts when tallying of ballots? Will the public ever know if voting ballots are changed/ fixed/tampered with by anyone/group that are for any particuliar party? There have been statements made about the last presidential election that it was tampered with. On my local tv, after an election the person holding the ballot box after the polls were closed was attacked by someone asking for it-to deliver to the county courthouse. They refused to turn it over as it was not as the laws & guidelines directed to the poll workers to do. That person was arrested & jailed for their actions. Will it ever be proven that our major elections in the USA are or could be tampered with or may have been in the past & if so who will answer/pay the price? Will the illegal elected have to return their pay, will anyone go to jail/prison?
Am I alone or does it seem like President Bush has turned his back to the country until Election Day? It seems like he doesn't even come out for public appearances anymore. Does he not care that our economy is in such bad shape? Why does he refuse to alleviate the obvious stress the war is having on the states? The stimulus pkg is a nice gesture, but a gesture nonetheless. And I'm afraid not a grand enough gesture to turn around the mess created over the last 5 years.
What are some good campaign slogans during this election? What's the best campaign slogan during this election? I saw this one yesterday and liked it a lot: 'Give em Health Hillary'. Any that can top that one?
What would happen if there were no voters in this election ? Please dont send small sentences that wont help. ONE: What would happen, what would it be like, if there were no voters for this election? TWO: How important is voting as a right and responsibility for each citizen in this country ? THREE: Some people should not be able to vote, thats what i think. Nothing racial but whatever. What do you think ? Thanks for any answers that help! Ok but how is it possible that there would be some votes if no one votes at all whatsoever ?
What do you think, presidential election and race? I feel that with Obama running for president it has caused chaos upon race. Everything in this election is basically sex and what race you are. Even on yahoo, I couldn't count how many times a racist question was posted.
Who Should current college students cast their vote for in the upcoming Presidential election and why? I am giving a speech on the importance of college students voting in the upcoming presidential election. I would sprriciate any opinions along with reasons why. This does not have to be limited to major party candidates.
What do you think about voter regret and how it will effect the General Election? I DJ at a local club after work on the weekends, and I get to talk to a lot of people. Many have expressed their regret for voting Obama on his "hope and change" platform after learning more in depth who he is as a person. How will this trend effect the results in the General Election? A good number of the people I talk to are college age and also military people.
How will Obama do in the general election? Michigan, Florida, and Pensylvania are always key states for winning the general election. Obama has told Florida and Michigan voters their votes should not count. He has told Pensylvania voters they are bitter. Has he helped his cause in theses states?
Why is Robert Mugabe hiding and not publishing the election results? I'd not be surprised if the old scoundrel flies out secretly, with what's left of Zimbabwe's treasure, to live in luxurious retirement, like Idi Amin before him.
When poll after poll shows Hillary losing to McCain in a general election, why do her supporters persist? ..and in all of these polls she is usually around 44%.... How does she expect to win the general election? How do her supporters expect her to win the general election?
How in the world do the super delegates think Obama can win the general election? I heard that one of the main reasons Bill Clinton won is because he had a lot of black votes, so do you think that is why the super delegates will pick Obama because he will get more black votes in the general election
Are the Dems going to have enough money to donate in the general election? If it's taking Obama to outspend Clinton 5:1 in hopes to win or come close now - Where's he going to get enough money to outspend McCain 5:1 in the general election. Because clearly the only thing that helps his campaign is haing lots of money. Hillary's fundraised a lot less and somehow she's still able to win states. Obama's loaded, ahead nationally in polls but is still having problems to take even Clinton out.
What would happen if McCain won the election but die before taking the oath? Would we have a new election? scott LOL I believe if McCain dies and he hasn't taken the oath we should have another elect. We aren't vote for the vice president we are voting for the President.
Does Staying in an election too long harmful to a political career? "Damaging a whole career because of one election is not worth the salt for me. Edwards ,Richardson, Biden, Dodd, Rudy,Mitt, Huckabee, etc all quit not bc they cant fight to the end but that it was not worth the salt to damage one's career and image bc of one single elections.
Who should i vote for in this upcoming American election? Who? Why? These are the questions I have. I would like someone to list the pros and cons for voting for Obama and Hillary. In reality I am clueless on the election, and I just want someone to restore the U.S.A to what it was.
Do Republicans make up their own statistics and polls, specifically for this election? I have witnessed on many occasions, Republicans claiming that McCain will win the election by a landslide in Nov. I am just curious to know why are Republicans so confident that McCain will win the election?
Are the reoccuring issues of race and gender in the election progressing or regressing America? That is to say, are the recent events in the election unifying the American public or further dividing us on the lines of race? Tell me what you think. **please leave out rants about the candidates** Arlene, have you been living in a cave for the last 8 years while the current president continuously made a spectacle of himself?
Does a candidates age important to you when you voe in an election? Why or why not? When you vote in an election for a federal, state, county, or city electin for a candidate, is a candidates age important to you when you vote for the candidate? Why or why not?
What are the 6 steps in the presidential Election? Okay I am working o a worksheet for my civics class and am wondering what are the 6 steps for the presidential election ? I already have the 6th step which is candidate elected president
Were your election candidates local or not? I had four to choose from. Two lived locally, one lived about 30 miles away in a completely different part of Northumberland and the other lived in Brussels. It really left me with only two choices, the local people for a local election. Or am I being a bit local people for the local shop here? I wonder if it really matters as much as I think it does.
How can we really know who will win this coming election? The Weekly World News is out of business and their Alien picks the Prez stories always seemed to get it right, do we really need to wait for the election results now?
If McCain wins the presidential election, is it the fault of the Democrats because they cannot agree on a ? If McCain wins the presidential election, is it the fault of the Democrats because they cannot agree on a candidate? The decision on the August convention is too late! Now they waste time and power to fight against each other.
Why is it that every election year, the candidates are so boring? Same old same old. What can we do to pick better candidates next election? Boring as in they don't appear to be good choices.
Did Obama give the Pennsylvania election to Hillary? With his comments about bitter voters in small towns? His comments: "If I worded things in a way that made people offended, I deeply regret that," Hillary's response: "Obama's comments were "elitist and out of touch." Do you think it will cost him the election for PA? Remember Hillary MUST win this one or she will not have the delegates she will need to get the democratic nomination. What's your thoughts?
Would you say that Hillary is more electable than Obama in a general election? Since Hillary has won all the blue states with the Reagan democrats, and Obama has only won red states, which he certainly won't get in a general election?
Will Clinton supporters vote for Obama in the general election if he wins? I have read and heard that Clinton supporters will not vote for Obama in the general election.Do you think that it true?If you are a Clinton supporter now, will you vote for Obama in the general election if he wins?
Will Osama Bin Laden come out with a new video before the November election? We all saw how one conveniently came out a couple days before the '04 election. Do you think we'll see another video? Will it be produced by Timbaland?
Will we be able to recognise either Hillary or Obama when they hit the general election camapign trail? Will they be advocating completely different policies than the ones they are promoting in the primary campaign? Will it be as different as night and day? Will they still be claiming that they will be bringing all the troops out of Iraq no matter what, or will they be singing a different tune? How about Hillary's NAFTA tune? Would that be a sour note in the genral election?
If the election comes down to Obama and McCain, how do you think the hard feelings in Florida and Michigan? Will come into play? I am from Florida and voters are feeling a little disenfranchised, I know rules were broken and rules must be upheld but when the curtain is drawn and Florida and Michigan voters are casting their vote for our future leader will hard feelings send the election to McCain? Spark my thoughts, trust me local leaders who created this mess will be held accountable election time rolls around but does it help that we are further disenfranchised by national leaders and the DNC?
How intense do you think election day will be? It seems that this election has been extremely controversial. We've dealt with a severely declining economy, a war that's costing us trillions, gas prices sky rocketing...plus we've had a female presidential candidate and a black presidential candidate. I think the election is going to be very intense!
What would the News Media do with out the election to Harp on 24-7?Would they be in Hollywood instead? When exactly did they start covering the 2008 Election?Do you think they are going to wear it out before we get to November? They have been beating the Drum an awful long time.
Can the US president run again if they lose an election once? For example, if McCain loses this election, could he run again next time?
election process???????????? How does everything work in terms of demo. and rep. in the election process?what do they mean and how does it work? obama and hilliary? who gets elected for what and how? Im younger and wanna know how this works..sorry if my question is weird! thanks once again---TOM---
How can Americans accept delaying an election? Sen. Chris Dodd on CNN just proposed delaying elections in Pakistan because of Benazir Bhutto's assasination. In the U.S., elections are even more sacred than church on Sunday. The country would erupt in riots and revolution if Bush suspended elections in 2008, or changed the date. Wouldn't it? So why can't Pakistan have an election as planned? Is it because the country's constitution appears to mean nothing to a military dictatorship? Is it because elections have no meaning there under the circumstances? Or is it that some Americans don't want to accept the the Bush Regime has ALWAYS been wrong, and the elections in the U.S. might be tainted - AGAIN?
Federal Election....? Who is allowed to vote in a Federal Election.... I know that a United States Citizens who are eighteen years of age and older is allowed to but are there any more specifications?
When are primary elections held in a presidential election year? a. following the election in November b. In the early months of the election year c. At the nominating convention d. two weeks prior to the national election
Election-obama or clinton? Ok, so heres what i am currently thinking... African american men are going to vote for Obama, sinse there has never been an african-american in the white house, and all the women will vote for Clinton, sinse she will be the first woman pres. Well, in my point of view, The Clinton Family has already been in the white house. As for Obama...well i have currently heard that he was President bushes 6th cousin twice removed from the family.........yeah.... Im not sure i really care who wins this election. For all you bush lovers, im sorry if you find this offenceful...but anyone buy Bush will do for me. Woodrow Wilson v.s. Charles E. Hughes election of 1916? I need help I am researching on the election of 1916 and I can't really find anything on what Wilson and Hughes thought about World War 1. I know Wilson tried to maintain U.S. neutrality, was a huge supporter of individual and states rights over the federal government, was a progressive and supported segregation Is there any other important stuff Wilson believed in during the election of 1916 period. I have tried finding stuff about Charles E. Hughe's stand on the war and what he believed. Does anyone have any other info they may know that I don't. I have been researching for a while and can't find anything else especially for Hughes. Basically the question I have to answer says to analyze the election of 1916. Report on Wilson's and Hughes platforms. What effect did the election have on U.S. neutrality

Question about new NBC Election Poll? In a new election poll from NBC, they showed the following results: (quote condensed) "In the head-to-head matchups...Obama and Clinton dead even at 45 percent in the national Democratic primary matchup. In the general-election matchups, Obama led McCain by 2 points, and McCain led Clinton by 2 points.. Hillary Clinton is sporting the lowest personal ratings of the campaign. Her 37 percent positive rating is the lowest the NBC poll has recorded since 3/2001, two months after she was elected to the U.S. Senate from New York. More than 20 percent of Clinton and Obama supporters say they would support McCain against the other Democrat. Among Obama voters, Clinton has a net-negative personal rating (35-43) while Clinton voters have a net-positive view of Obama (50-29). This appears to be evidence that Obama should have the easier time uniting the party than Clinton. " --Chuck Todd, NBC Political Director http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/archive/2008/03/26/821438.aspx Why do you think, after weeks of Obama controversy, that Clinton's approval ratings have dropped more than his? Let me rephrase the question- why would Hillary's approval ratings be at a 7 year record low when for the last two weeks Obama has been scrutinized every hour on the news?
Election funding question? So John McCain wants to bypass the public funding law that he helped write, so he can take more money from special interests. But because President Bush has refused to seat the FEC Commissioners, they cannot meet in a quorum, so that they can analyze the questionable nature of a loan he took that used the guaranteed public funds as collateral for the loan in the first place. So now he wants a special dispensation that would therefore allow McCain himself the approval to bypass the law...Which he wrote to forestall abuses of election campaign funding. Does anyone else find this to be at least outrageously funny? If not very sadly ironic?
election 1824? What were the issues of the presidential election of 1824? - why was it called the favorite son election - who did jackson, clay, crawford and adams represent ( the north, south, east or west)
stock market after the election.? what to u think after the election will the stock market will go up or down. is it a good idea to buy stock before the election in hope of the stock market will go up after the election. personally i think that the stock market will get better after the election.
is our election process fair?? im not clear on how it works. it would make sense that if you get the most votes, you win right?? not the case with the bush and gore election though. electorial votes?? what the hell is that all about??? in my opinion, only those who vote should be considered in a election. the MAJORITY of actual votes should be the only thing considered in a election. if gore had the most actual votes, how is it not the will of the american people that he be president?? or was it?? what would our country be like now had the will of the people been acted on?? whats wrong with keeping it simple and saying the person with the most votes wins?? that is actually how the average person in america thinks it realy works anyways. PLEASE, .intelligent, educated responses only......... thanks for the response kimberly........but , it works?? safeguards against corruption?? i think our countries current situation is plenty of proof that it does not work. as for corruption, we will be hearing about the corruption of the bush administration for many years to come im afraid....... in addition i feel that votes should be cast electronically as well as a signed hard copy from the voter. OH,...... AND JIRO BELOW, HES A LITTLE UPSET, COUGHT HIS BOYFRIEND CHEATING ON HIM.........
Election is a horrible theology, what do you think? I think a lot theologies have corrupted the purity of the gospel. Some theology is obvious and some damaging. Some theology takes a word from the bible and makes a complete doctrine from it. Add to that many years of interpreting the theology and reinterpreting it you find yourself far from the original meaning. Take election for example. It says God has determined from the begining of time who will live and who will die. I don't think so. If God can see all times as now of course he knows what each person will do. From our point of view it would seem like it was all predestined. I say that it is not. God knows what goes on at all times and plans accordingly. He has an advantage being God and all. Seeing the past, present, and future all at once... Election makes the great commision null and void. What's the point in preaching the gospel if God already elected the saved and damned everyone else?
Election of 1864? How did the war complicate the election? Why did Lincoln think he was going to be defeated? What happened to change that? What were the election results in general and specifically among the northern soldiers? What was significant about the results?
Election Reform ~ Should the Electorial Votes be replaced by individual votes? Due to the recent problems with elections should the electorial votes in the Presidential Election be replaced by a national system of individual votes! If no, why would you believe each individual person isn't entitled to have a voice?

Is this election just about entertaining people, or can we get a real leader out of this election? This election has felt more about entertaining the masses through the media than informing Americans about the position our candidates have on the issues. What do you think? I personally would like to see something along the following: 1. All candidates before the primaries have a set amount of money each for campaining before the primaries. All equal. 2. Given equal air time by the national media (required) 3. True discussion of the real issues and where they each stand. After the primaries are over - then let the remaining candidates do their own fund raising and gather endorsements, etc. Any other ideas on changing the way things are done?
A "civilized election?"? So Bill Clinton says that if its his wife vs. McCain in the general election, it will be one of the most "civilized in American history." I'm sorry, but any election involving the Clintons just doesn't seem civilized to me in any way. I'd like to see Obama take on McCain; that race has a chance at being civilized. All I'm saying is that Obama and McCain respect each other, that's why it could be civilized.
Election Question???? Okay does voting for the Senate count as voting in a federail election? And is that what NY state means by if you don't vote for a long time or in the primary that you can't vote in the general election? DOES ANYONE LIVE IN NEW YORK STATE TO HELP ME OUT HERE???????
If the 2008 Election was tomorrow and the election was between Mitt Romney or Barack Obama...? If the 2008 Election was tomorrow and the election was between Republican Mitt Romney and Democrat Barack Obama, who would you vote for and who do you believe would win? Between Romney and Obama, I would choose Romney and I believe he could defeat Obama for the Presidency because of his experience.
What presidential election should I do my American History project...? I have an assignment I must pic a Persidental election from the election of Abrham Lincoln to President Bush's election... I can't seem to decided on one...
Election 2006 Web site? With everyone focused on the election coming up, how come I can't find any information on the Internet? I live in NH and was just trying to see if there is a site (maybe one that showcases every states upcoming election) that shows who is running for congress this year, and what issues are important to them. I'm sure there is, but I just am struggling to find it. Thanks for the help guys:)
A very tough presidential election year? Do you think after the 2008 elections the country will continue down a bi-partisan trend. Or resemble election years of past, where tensions rise, but reside after a President is determined? Any thoughts? Fair points Jon B and 4mom. Kudos.
election question? why do the call the election A general election
primaries election? could you tell me in details what primaries election is about? everything from what it is , whats going on and so forth or please tell me some websites that will help me thanks
Should all states have election day registration? On average only 5 out of 10 voters vote in the US. In states that allow people to register on election day 7 out of 10 registered voters vote. As well as in states with election day registration, a larger percentage of voters are registered ahead of time from past elections. Also with todays technology we don't need paper voter registration roles to determine who is or is not eligible to vote. A simple check on a state or national database can accomplish that. As well as people who register still have to show proof of identity and residency to register. So the argument that states need time to prepare is an outdated one. What do you think? Should all states have election day registration or same day registration as voting?
Election in the Media - what the? Is any one else totally confused by the TV ads about the election? They are spending so much of our tax-payers money on tv ads, but I don't understand what they're going on about - they slander the "other" party, but what I really want to know is "What do they have to offer themselves?" not why I shouldn't vote for the other party. There's so much rubbish out there it is hard for me to make a decision based on some reality and truth. Where can I go to find out what each party has to offer and do a quick catch up before next week's election!!!!
Election for President? When is the election for a new president for America? And when will they tell the Media who's the new president?
Does a video exist of the "Election Connection goes over the Presidents" from the 2004 election on nickelodeon Election Connection goes over the Presidents, 2004 election, Nickelodeon
Why the primary is just as important as the election.? In my opinion the democratic primary is just as important as the election. If Barack wins the primary against Hillary, I can't see him beating out a republican for the election. There are too many racist people in the United States to vote for a black person as the president. I think that the situation would be completely different if Hillary won the primary. If Hillary wins the primary, I can't see a republican winning the election over her. There are too many supporters of the Clinton family in the United States. I don't she would lose the election to one of the republican candidates. Does anyone agree with me? Imo, the democrats should vote for Hillary to win the primary if they want to win the election.
Snap Election now!!!? If there was an election today who would you vote for. At the expiry of the question the winning party would be nominated. vote for whatever party you like. The winning question would be down to my own personal stance. place your "X's" now please! spoilt votes don't count For the UK electorate only, sorry Hmm, I didn't quite literally mean X. come on give me the names of the party you unruly mob!!
